“So, did you do it?”
I was sitting in front of a computer screen in San Francisco, my partner Kyle by my side as we watched versions of ourselves from a year ago ask about the contents of the year we had just experienced.
Every year — as part of my multi-step year-in-review process — Kyle and I get asked questions from our younger selves in a video we recorded the year prior — and then we turn the tables and make predictions and ask questions to the versions of ourselves watching the video we record for the next year.
In this year’s video, our younger selves were asking if we did it: if we finished that art project, found the freedom we were looking for.
I looked at Kyle and smiled. “We did.”
Getting to where I am today — traveling the world with my favorite person and a newfound community of fellow digital nomads — wouldn’t be possible without my multi-stage year-in-review process.
My year-in-review is where I break down what went right, what went wrong, and what needs to change for the next year — and it’s both strategic and emotional and completely lifechanging.
