✍️ How to Find Time to Write

It’s 7:40am as I’m writing this for you. I’ve been beating the sun lately — my circadian clock might still be in Argentina.

But even as a lifelong night owl, there’s something oddly peaceful about the time before the sun splashes across the sky.

Back when I worked in Hollywood, I would drive to a local coffeeshop in the darkness of pre-dawn, hours before my writer’s room started for the day. I would post up and write my scripts, living in a fictional world before it was time to join the real one.

Even though I have more time freedom now — I have no “day job” to rush off to after my morning writing session, which is such a luxury! — I’m juggling multiple writing projects and clients as well as this Substack, so time management is still a key part of my day.

If you’re a professional writer, author, or freelancer (or want to become one!) you have to meet your deadlines with artfulness and stay productive without losing your magic.
