I followed my client into the elevator of the luxury hotel in Greece. As the elevator ascended to the top floor, we chatted about life and travel.
Then, the elevator doors swung open and we stepped out into a restaurant with panoramic, 360-degree views of all of Athens.
We were led to our table — right by one of the gigantic windows, covered by a white tablecloth and fresh flowers — and my client treated me to lunch as we discussed edits to the book and what potential real-world ripples certain scenes might cause once the general public got their hands on the memoir.
When you’re writing a memoir, you’re not just helping someone with a book. A memoir is a life laid bare: it walks the tightrope of vulnerability and voyeurism.
I hold these books as sacred, and treat them as such, which is why clients choose to work with me on their books.
