Someone casually said this in conversation to me the other day, and I felt like I had to stop and do a double-take.
Is that true? I asked myself.
On the surface level — obviously not: AI didn’t disappear every creative professional out of existence overnight.
But is the exaggeration hiding a greater trend?
I’ve written before about Writers vs. AI, but in the face of AI-generated novels winning awards and The New York Times going up against Open AI in court for copyright infringement, the heat is on for creatives.
What I want to know is: is the era of the writer over? And if it’s not — what’s changing in the daily life of a writer in a world driven by AI?
