📖 3-Minute Story: BBC Interviews and Digital Nomad Travel Guides
“Oh my God, the BBC just called me — they want me to be on air in an hour and a half!” I said to my partner Kyle as I settled back into the chair across from him at the Dim Sum place we were at in Singapore. I had just gotten off the phone with a radio host who wanted to talk to me about being a digital nomad for BBC Worldwide.
“Congrats, Amy,” Kyle said, always a supportive partner. "Are you excited?”
“This will be a cakewalk. I’m not nervous at all.”
This was a half-truth, dear reader. An hour and a half later in my hotel, I finished soundcheck with the BBC engineer and the producer briefed me before my segment — and immediately I felt my adrenaline spike.
The interview went well for my first major radio interview (I’ve had some minor ones in the past!) but generally I enjoy podcast interviews even more because there’s less pressure of a live environment and they’re a bit more laid back. But I have a special place in my heart for radio (a story for another time) and it was an awesome experience.
I’m currently on an online book tour for The Nomad Detective: Volume I. But I don’t have a publicist or any sort of team behind me. It’s just me and my amazing partner Kyle. It’s the reality of independent publishing — but I’m just thrilled to be sharing my book with you. Thanks for your support — it truly means the world to me that I get to write and travel the world.
Speaking of traveling the world, for the past 4 years I’ve been a full-time digital nomad. From my 2020-era road trip around the US with friends to my international adventures, I’ve had the pleasure of writing from some stunning destinations.
Each of my travel guides is ~ totally free ~ and lays out where to eat, what to do, and where to stay in each of these cities.
I’ve even started rating each city based on criteria like air quality, affordability, availability of cool day trips, and whether or not the coffeeshops are remote-work-friendly.

✨ 2 Things I’ve Read and Loved This Week…
Crescent City Book #2 by Sarah J. Maas. I’m almost done with all of the books in the SJM universe, and while I’m loving these books I’ll also be glad to wrestle my sleep schedule back. The Crescent City series is slow but worth the time investment, as SJM has such nail-biter endings to her books that I’m glued to my Kindle for the entirety of the last 300 pages of most of her stories. Very few authors can nail stories like she can!
Bestselling author Colleen Hoover has writer’s block. Honestly, same sometimes. I can’t imagine the psychological weight that authors like her have to sort through when they’re subjected to such Internet hate. This interview is an interesting look into her life—and how a bestselling author is grappling with fame.
✍️ 1 Journal Prompt
What place feels like the most like “home” to you? I don’t even mean what reminds you of home, but what imbues you with the feeling of home? For me, a cozy coffeeshop feels like home to me—because home is where the caffeine is. ☕️
