📖 3-Minute Story: My Most Popular Posts for Writers
This past week has been all about deadlines! I completed the final touches on my book The Nomad Detective ahead of the August 1st launch (can’t wait for y’all to read it!) as well as some client work. I was also commissioned to write an op-ed by an editor I met earlier this year, so I should be able to share that story with you soon when it’s live :)
Because of all the activity going on this week, I thought it would be a good time for me to reflect on some of my most popular posts for writers about creativity, productivity, growing on Substack, and writing fiction.
Without further ado, here’s the list!

✨ 2 Things I’ve Read and Loved This Week…
I’m nearly done with the From Blood and Ash series. I’m really enjoying it even as it falls into a trap a lot of fantasy/romantasy books do — getting bogged down with exhausting amounts of exposition.
Of course, I’ve been reading and re-reading The Nomad Detective: Volume I ahead of the launch to make sure it’s ready to go!
✍️ 1 Journal Prompt
Midyear Reflection: Charting Your Course for the Rest of 2024. Take a moment to pause and reflect on your writing journey through 2024 so far. Consider the following questions:
What are three accomplishments, big or small, that you're proud of this year?
Which goal or intention you set at the beginning of the year has been the most challenging to pursue? Why do you think that is?
What unexpected lesson or growth opportunity has 2024 presented to you?
Looking ahead to the rest of the year, what's one writing goal you'd like to prioritize? What specific steps can you take to make progress toward it?
How has your perspective on what's truly important to you shifted since January? How might this influence your focus for the remainder of 2024?
Imagine it's December 31, 2024. What would you like to be able to say you've achieved or experienced by then?
Use these reflections to realign your intentions and create an action plan for making the most of the rest of 2024.
Feel free to share anything that came up for you in the comments:

I’ve been enjoying a lot of simple pleasures here in Krakow: sleeping in, working out, eating hummus and apricots on toast — y’know, the usual staples that come with Working Remotely in Europe: Starter Pack.

New to Substack here, so I'll answer one of your questions: By December, I'd like to say I grew on this platform and created a buzz around my topics of writing that will lead people to an interest in my creative nonfiction book I want to publish.
